Good stop

Wednesday got up 05:40 to get ferry to Dunkirk. Sea rather rough but choosing not bad.

Left boat at 11:30 (French time) and drove through variable rain. Very busy past Lille, but traffic much light later on.

Stopped at tiny camp site at Bourg et Comin between Reims and Soissons. Bit Heath Robinson, had to ask for toilets to be unlocked, electricity connector French, not the usual international standard, but borrowed adapter overnight from very kind Dutchie. British couple also there one night, interested in local history. 200 miles

Thursday went to Fismes (10 Km south) – couldn’t find Brico/Supermarket, but very kind lady came over and gave directions. Got French plug which I used to adapt my UK adapter.

Some spots of rain to begin with, but improved later and some sun. Not cold.

Pm went for a walk, with only very vague idea of geography. Came across unexpected war cemetery, then through woods to wonderful views over Oeilly. On through Pargnan, with ancient caves in every back garden. People very reserved, contrast to my usual experience of the French. On up the hill to Cuissy et Geny, then back down long winding road to campsite. 3 hours, very tired. Early bed !

Friday sunny not up early. Moving on, good journey, gradually warmer (up to 23 degrees). Arrived Auxonne near Dijon 3:35pm. 225 miles

Wifi. Walked into town, unremarkable.
