Cold with a wind – frost expected tonight. Earthed up potatoes, Deb weeded parsnips (see image below) and watered.

I discovered that cultivator had tines fitted backwards ! Changed this and it works much better !!!

Over the last three days we have watered repeatedly (it has been very hot and dry), weeded, put vegimesh over carrots, filled bean trench and hoed.

Spent about 4 hours. Deb sowed additional row of peas and covered with vegemesh.

We spent about 3 hours. Deb weeded raspberries and bean area. I finished loosening up brassica area in net then started with Handy cultivator, but bolt fell out and I had to stop.

Yesterday and today, continued moving very old cost from bottom of 72 to area below manure heap.

Has rained a lot and very wet soil.

Cleared remaking squash plant and put in elephant garlic Peter gave me.

Used Ben’s larger strimmer to do paths and around fruit trees.

Difficult at first to hold and manoeuvre, but made some adjustments and a bit better.

Transplanted some plants in greenhouse, sowed lettuce, basil and cauliflowers.
