Heligan & Wales

Mon 7th June – Took caravan to Heligan for Ben and Hennie, returned in evening after delicious (and expensive) meal in Mevagissey.

Fri 11th June – Set off 7.45 to Heligan, B&H made us eggs benedict for breakfast! Set off with caravan 10.40 – very long journey to Trecastle Farm. Traffic very heavy and slow. Weather generally cloudy, and light rain when we arrived at 5.15pm. Meal started with various things B&H had left, smoked salmon, pate etc!

Saturday 12th June – Slept well !!! To Cefyn Onn Park, met Lucy and Daisy. Back to Donald St via Sainsbury’s, great problems finding parking. Evening meal of Lucy-made pizza and game of Rummikub. I won !!!

Sunday 13th June – again slept very well!! Lovely sunny morning, view superb. To Lucy midday for roast chicken – delicious!!!

Took  Daisy to Hannah’s to play in hot tub, then drove to Heath Park and walked with dog to their new house and “spied” from behind bushes! Back to Hannah’s family, chat then to Lucy, waited for them to pick up Daisy, then goodbyes and back to caravan. Very hot!

Monday 14th June – set off 10:50 for Aberffrwd Farm near Aberystwyth. Slow over two ranges of hills, arrived 14:30, in good sunshine, warm but cooler than yesterday. Moved caravan to get into range of BT Wi-fi connection!

Tuesday 15th June – To Aberystwyth with car as train not possible due to Covid. Walked along front and to cliff railway, but decided to walk up – very steep but good views from top. Walked to other end of prom, ice cream then coffee and fresh doughnuts for lunch! Very hot and sunny.

Wednesday 16th June – Dull, cooler, humid. After coffee went for walk up Rheidol valley, very pleasant. Didn’t get to Devil’s Bridge, stopped for lunch by very small falls, then back to caravan. Tired! Drizzled towards the end, then a bit more rain after we got back.

Thursday 17th June – Drove to Church Stretton (Woodside Farm CL). Not a bad journey. Iain and Helen came over later afternoon and chatted, got the full family history of CL owner!

Friday 18th June – Went over to I & H’s flat – small but very nice. Also looked at van, as always not quite finished. Looks very good, comprehensive and well finished. Walked up the Ragleth, then later Indian takeaway- delicious!

Saturday 19th June – Set off for home 10.30am, not too bad a journey, though lots of slow traffic on M5. Arrived at storage 4.10pm.
