Red Pennant have been in touch with workshop and parts arrived ! Car will be ready today. Called in later on the way past, and car going back together. Water leak was minor – loose hose. Will definitely be ready at end of day.
Went to Carrefour to buy wine chocolate and clothes for grandchildren. Wine is incredibly cheap here, much cheaper than I remember in the past.
Back to campsite – plague of ladybirds all over caravan and getting in through every small gap. Spent ages getting them out.
Weather picked up and mild but rather cloudy later.
Long discussions last night about whether to change car. We don’t want to go through this sort of long wait and disruption again. It could have been worse though, breaking down altogether on a motorway. But at our age … Money is real problem, perhaps our children could loan us some.
Have decided to return home tomorrow – weather outlook not good, and little time left to go south, plus extra cost on top of repairs.
Took hire car back later, then picked up Honda. Thoroughly cleaned, inside and out ! And working fine, though immediately noticeable that clutch much heavier and starts to engage right at the bottom of its travel. I suspect there has been a long-standing problem that I haven’t noticed.
